The Adventures of Dollie was made by D W Griffith in 1908. Hr went to the Biograph studios as an aspiring actor and was asked to direct a film. He did so on the condition he not lost his acting job. This was the first picture he directed and he never turned back.

When the movies were young by Linda Arvidson
Really interesting firsthand account of her marriage to D. W. Griffith and their adventures in early film. She talks about all of his key films, like this one. She calls the girl 'Dolly' by the way.
